Coffee from the slopes of an ancient volcano
This coffee comes from the slopes of Mount Elgon, an ancient volcanic mountain range on the border of Uganda and Kenya, from small family farms in the Sironko region. The area is known for its fertile soil, high altitude and regular rainfall, which gives the coffee cherries time to ripen slowly and develop a rich sweetness and firm structure.
Sweetness, aroma and character
The cherries are picked by hand only when fully ripe and dried slowly on raised beds in the sun, without machinery. This natural drying method keeps the fruit on its grain, which increases sweetness and brings out more pronounced, characteristic flavors.
In the cup, fruity notes of dark fruit, mango and a delicate wine sweetness are revealed, complemented by warm cocoa undertones. Whether prepared by filter or as an espresso, it is a full-flavoured, aromatic and slightly full-bodied coffee that faithfully reflects the unique character of the Ugandan mountains.
