The story of Rafael Aya Martínez

Rafael Aya Martínez from Huila, Colombia, has been growing coffee for over 20 years on his farm Finca La Virginia, which he manages together with his wife Elvira Cuéllar. On an area of 3.5-5 hectares, they are dedicated to sustainable production - in addition to coffee, they grow fruit, vegetables, sugar cane and raise animals. Since 2016, Rafael has specialized in fine coffee, which he has taken to a new level thanks to his studies at SENA. He uses innovative fermentation techniques, from classic washing to extended anaerobic processes that can last up to 150 hours.
